Due to UMD's budget crisis, Athletic Director Kevin Anderson announced to the entire track and field family that all three seasons of men's running (XC, Indoor, and Outdoor Track and Field) are being recommended to be cut from University of Maryland Athletics. Cutting a program that has such a positive impact on so many student athletes is not the answer to this problem.  The history of this program runs as deep as the university itself, and it has produced countless legends, both on and off the track.  Cutting this program would do more harm to the University and the community that it will do good.
Maryland's track and field team is a family, one team that beats with one heart.  We cannot be torn in two.
